What is Alternative Medicine? Complementary Medicine?

'Alternative Medicine' is a broad term for health care systems and treatments not currently considered part of western conventional (allopathic) medicine. Most Alternative Health systems are based on traditional, often ancient, healing techniques. While conventional (allopathic) medicine is currently more popular in the United State and Western Europe. Alternative Medicine systems are still the primary system used by the majority of people around the world. For example, In China and India, the majority of people continue to use traditional forms of medicine for primary health care. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurvedic Medicine respectively. 'Complementary Medicine' is just Alternative Medicine used in conjunction with conventional medical treatment.

Alternative Medicine is all about treating the patient, not treating the patient’s disease. For example, we do not treat cancer; but we do treat many patients who have cancer. Conventional medicine focuses on relieving symptoms often by altering biochemistry with medications while natural health care focuses on stimulating the body to heal itself. These are two totally opposite perspectives on health. You as the patient decide whether you want to follow only one strategy, neither, or both.

Yes, we work with many insurance companies to support your care. Please call with your insurance information and we will verify coverage with your insurance company.

What If My Insurance Company Will Not Cover My Care?

Your health is your most valuable possession. The value of your health is determined by you alone. Remember that insurance companies' policies do not always allow for the care that is required to restore you to optimal health. Invest in your health, you're worth it!

What should I do to prepare for my appointment?

It is best not to eat a heavy meal, drink alcoholic or caffeinated beverages and not to engage in heavy exercise for at least four hours before a treatment. It is better not to be fasting or extremely hungry. Allow adequate time to get to your appointment so you are not stressed when you arrive. Please do not wear perfume, cologne or heavy makeup to your appointments as we have have patients who are chemically sensitive. Thank you!
